* Satyasena, Sushena, Shatrunjaya

* Saunaka Kulapati (Saunagar)

One of the rishis in Naimisaranya forest to whom Sauti narrated the Mahabaratha.


* Ugrasrava Sauti

Son of Lomaharshana (Romaharshana, Suta, Sudar). A disciple of sage Vyasa, he narrated the Mahabharata to Saunaka Kulapati and other sages of Naimisaranya (Naimisha).
Rishi Vaisampayana had narrted the Mahabharatha to king Janamajeya at the sarpa yajna (snake sacrifice)


* Shikandini / Shikandi

Amba had been carried away by Bhishma along with her sisters Ambika and Ambalika to be wed to Bhishma's half-brother Vichitravirya.  Since she loved Salva, she went back to him but was rejected by him. Bhsihma was unwilling to marry her. The angered Amba declared that she would achieve her vengeance by observing severe penance. She got a boon from Lord Siva and was reborn as Shikandini, daughter of Drupada, the Panchala king. She was elder to Dhrishtadyumna and Draupadi.
Shikhandini wanted to become a male and was assisted in this by a Yaksha named Sthunakarna, who lived in the forests near Panchala. A Yaksha is an attendant of Kubera, the god of wealth. The angered Gubera cursed Sthunakarna that he would be unable to resume his male gender until the death of Shikandi.



* Shukra

Shukracharya was the son of Bhrigu Maharishi and Kavya (Usana). He was a learned sage and guru of the asuras.


* Shukar

Shuka Brahma Maharishi was the son of the sage Vyasa and celestial maiden Krutasi (Ghritachi). He is depicted with a parrot-like face. He was an enlightened soul born with profound knowledge. Shukar narrated the Srimad Bhagavatam to King Parikshit over seven days.


* Sthunakarna

Shikhandini wanted to become a male and was assisted in this by a Yaksha named Sthunakarna, who lived in the forests near Panchala. A Yaksha is an attendant of Kubera, the god of wealth. The angered Gubera cursed Sthunakarna that he would be unable to resume his male gender until the death of Shikandi.


* Surasena (Shurasena)

 Surasena (Shurasena) was the chief of the Yadu dynasty. He was the father of Vasudeva (Krishna's father). He also had a daughter named Pritha. Surasena had promised his child for adoption to king Kuntibhoja who was childless. Pritha was thus adopted by king Kuntibhoja, renamed Kunti.
