Maharashtra's 13.3-km-long "Missing Link" project on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway has been developed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), built at a cost of ₹7,000 crore. It features the widest road tunnel in the world and the tallest cable-stayed bridge in the country. The project includes two tunnels, two viaducts and a cable-stayed bridge over Tiger Valley. It bypasses the steep and accident-prone ghat section that witnesses frequent traffic congestion.
The 8.92 km long tunnel, part of the Missing Link project offers an alternative to the winding roads of the ghat section. The tunnel has made a world record for its 23 metre width, securing a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records for the 'world's widest underground tunnel'.

Lonar Crater
, located in the Buldhana district of Maharashtra formed by a meteorite impact, is surrounded by lush greenery, diverse wildlife, and ancient temples. It is believed to have been created around 52,000 years ago when a high-velocity meteorite struck the basaltic Deccan Plateau. This impact led to the formation of a nearly circular depression, which gradually transformed into a saline and alkaline lake. The crater has drawn the attention of scientists from around the world, including NASA and the Geological Survey of India, due to its rare geological and geochemical properties. The ecosystem around Lonar Crater is unique, supporting a diverse range of flora and fauna. The Lonar lake itself has two distinct layers of water - one alkaline and one saline - harboring microorganisms not found anywhere else on Earth. It is a notified National Geo-heritage Monument.

City of Dreams
Mumbai
the financial (Bombay Stock Exchange), commercial, and entertainment capital of India (Bollywood film industry) is known as the City of Dreams.
Mumbai on the Konkan coast (known as Bombay until 1995), the capital of Maharashtra is the financial capital and the most populous city.
City of seven islands
Mumbai was originally a set of seven islands, originally home to communities of Marathi language-speaking Koli fishing people. The seven islands were Colaba, Old Woman's Island (Little Colaba), Isle of Bombay, Mazagaon, Parel, Worli, Mahim. The Hornby Vellard project undertook reclamation of the area between the seven islands from the Arabian Sea. Along with the construction of major roads and railways, the reclamation project( 1782 - 1845), transformed Mumbai into a major seaport on the Arabian Sea.
Upon India's independence in 1947, the city was incorporated into Bombay State. In 1960, following the Samyukta Maharashtra Movement, a new state of Maharashtra was created with Mumbai as the capital.
