Here is  clarion call by St. Tyagaraja in Sri Ganapatini (Sowrashtram): 
    "Having accepted the worship of Brahma, etc. and partaking of the offerings, with the holy feet of Hari firmly installed in his heart, here comes Sri Ganapati with heavy steps resounding with 'gallu, galla' sounds set to dancing many gathis (rhythms).  Oh men of devotion ! Adore Him !" 
    This salutation is to the 'Great Remover of Obstacles', Nritya Ganapathi.

      MYLAPORE FINE ARTS

      Mylapore Fine Arts was started in 1951 & moved to the current premises in Oliver Road in 1959. The Music Festival is being conducted from 1972 onwards in our sabha & Sangeetha Kala Nipuna is the title conferred by Mylapore Fine Arts. The 1st recipient of the award was Shri M.D.Ramanathan in 1972.
      Initially dramas were also staged during the Season, but due to space restriction, this has not been possible for the past few years.
      The afternoon session is mostly for talent promotion, when new & upcoming artistes are given a chance to perform. The evening programme will be ticketed concerts for the seniors.
