Sri Parthasarathy na (Sudda Danyasi) : 'Oh Parthasarathy! your flute-play enchants gopis; beloved of Rukmini, your boons wipe out the miseries of the world. (Sri Parthasarathy of Thiruvallikeni in Madras) is the Lord who expounded the Bhagawad Gita for the salvation of Arjuna and the world.) - Dikshitar |
Bharat Kalachar, started in 1987 by Mr.Y.G. Parthasarathy is a centre for culture, promoting Fine Arts, training youngsters in appreciating classical arts and to provide an opportunity to talented youngsters. Mrs.Y.G. Parthasarathy (Secretary) made an effort for the students of her school Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan to understand and appreciate the greatness of classical Indian tradition. An attempt had been made to train the students to listen sincerely to concerts, creating a group of young audiences to kutcheries.
The students of the school are given special coaching in music, dance, puranas, vedas, etc. The students are provided free passes for performances during the December Season and the students are asked to record their views of the programmes. Lecture demonstrations and special workshops are arranged periodically. Besides the Margazhi Utsav, Bharat Kalachar conducts the Yuva Utsav. The title 'Yuva Kala Bharati' is bestowed on a young artiste. Also a Natya Utsav is organised.
In 1981, a Youth Festival was organised. A book containing about six or seven varnas of Koteeswara Iyer was distributed free. This sabha is solely concentrating in music programmes. There are no dance or drama programmes conducted. There has always been personal contact with the public, by distributing hand-bills, personally announcing future programmes.
