A.EASWARAN - MRIDANGIST.............(b.April 1, 1947)
A
descendant of the illustrious and venerable Sri Appayya Dikshitar, Easwaran
was born at Mannargudi, which would seem to have a partiality for percussionists.
A graduate of the Madras University, Easwaran had training in mridangam
with Kunniseri U. Krishnaswami Ayyar. He is a Staff Artiste, All India
Radio and has been giving support to leading vidwans frequently.

Appaya Dikshitar was honoured with 'Kanakabhishekam' by Chinna Bomma Raja
of Vellore in 1582 A.D and he erected temples with the gold. Has sung devotional
hymns and authored works like 'Siddhantalesa Sangraha'. |
