Asterix

Asterix

A pint sized warrior of the Great Gaulish village who gets his spirit & superhuman strength from the famed magic potion brewed by the village druid Getafix. His favourite passtime are boar hunting with Obelix & Dogmatix, bashing up the Roman legionaries and guarding his village.

Obelix

Obelix Dogmatix
The huge rolly polly friend of Asterix, who fell into a cauldron of magic potion as a child and is strong with superhuman strength forever. His pet Dogmatix accompanies him all the time. Obelix is a loyal friend of Asterix, whom he accompanies him in all the adventures. He loves fresh Romans, not to forget their helmets which he treasures. He is a quarrist by profession and his menhirs are world (comic/cartoon) famous.

Vitalstatistix & his wife Impedimenta

VitalstatistixImpedimenta
The chief of the village of indomitable Gauls. A hot tempered but at the same time a jolly man, is held in high esteem by all the villagers. He is a fearless man, except for his one fear of the sky falling on his head. His wife Impedimenta acts the First Lady of the village, but her heart is set on moving to Lutetia, drawn by the fashion & luxury there.

Getafix, the village Druid

The druid of the village who brews magic potion which gives the villagers super human strength, making them the lone village that stands up against the might of the Roman Empire. A vital player in each book, he does brew a few other interesting potions as well. He spends his time collecting herbs in the forest, brewing potions or attending druid conferences.

Geriatrix, the village old man

Geriatrix
The grand old man with a grand young dame, running errands & attempting feats to prove to his young wife. Thinks he is growing younger as each day goes by.

Cacofonix, the village Bard

A singer who is loved by the villagers, when he does not sing. A man with a metallic voice ( a voice like a sistrum - a kind of metal rattle), thinks of himself as a genius. In most comics, he has a pride place in the concluding scene.

End Scene
Most comic issues end with peace in the village & all having fun & eats.

This the pride place enjoyed by Cacofonix, to provide peace for the villagers.

Fulliautomatix

Fulliautomatix

Unhygienix with his wife

Unhygienix
Fulliautomatix, the village blacksmith & Unhygienix the village fishmonger are constantly at loggerheads. 'Bang' will go Fulliautomatix's hammer on Unhygienix's head & 'Splat' will go Unhygienix's very fresh!! fish on Fulliautomatix's head.

Julius Ceasar

Julius Ceasar
The emperor of the Mighty Roman Empire, conquering all round him, except for the village of indomitable, invincible Gauls, our heroes. His classical remarks are just great, if you can understand Latin.

Tintin

Tintin
A young detective, who travels far & wide
solving cases. Cases & danger follow this young man. He is assisted in all his cases by Captain Haddock & Snowy his dog.

Snowy

Tintin's pet dog who is always snifing along with his master. Unlike his master who is a teetotaller, he loves to get tipsy with the leftovers of Captain Haddock's glasses. If only he could talk to his master as he talks to us through the balloons.

Captain Haddock

Captain Haddock
A retired sea faring captain. A good friend of Tintin. Very fond of his drinks and has a vocabulary of sea based swear words which makes his character very absorbing, as are his unkempt hair and beard.

Prof. Calculus

An absent minded inventor/scientist friend of Tintin who is also hard of hearing. His witty replies, what without his hearing horn and his mind absorbed in his projects are a legion.

Bianca Castafoire

The Milanese Nightingale, she turns up in all the odd places Tintin travels for his cases. Always by special request ??, she sings the Jewel song from "Faust". Ah, my beauty past compare, These jewels bright I wear & Snowy is bound to accompany her sooner or later.

Thomson & Thompson

Thompsons
The loveable friendly clumsy detective twins, with & without a P. They help (or do they) solve a mystery and assist Tintin in ways which often may not turn out very helpful.

Nestor

The faithful butler of Captain Haddock who is the perfect English butler.
